Description
The axe head was hand forged from solid 1080 high carbon steel, after rough forging, the axe was ground to its final shape, annealed to relieve any stresses that might have built up in the steel during the forging process, and quenched in oil, then it was tempered for 2 hours at 220 degrees Celsius, to achieve the finest grain structure which makes the blade tough and durable. Fully heat-treated and razor-sharp!
The axe head itself has a rustic forged finish and a mirror finish on the very blade. The blade features a slight curve to it, and a pronounced beard which allows for a wide blade but still light as less material is required compared to traditional axes. This axe was designed with camping in mind, it also features a hammer poll on the back, it can also be also used as a hewing /carving axe if needed. The handle comes in natural wood color, which is afterwards sealed with boiled linseed oil to expose the beauty of the grain and protect it from the elements.
Handle is hand carved from mountain ash wood, which is custom fitted to the head solid, secured with a wedge.
