Description
440B is a slightly less hard but more corrosion-resistant version of 440C stainless steel, offering a good balance of strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. It’s recommended for applications such as blades for general-purpose knives and kitchen utensilss, where a good level of sharpness is required, but so is a high degree of resistance to rust and staining.

Hardening and tempering
Hardening: 1,045 ° / Tempering at 200 ° C for 1 hour 3x (between annealing please quench it in cold water) yields approximately 58 HRC
Important info
The steel is annealed and is delivered to us in large plates (about 2x1m). We have the panels cut into strips of 40 mm. width. It may happen that the cut strips are slightly bent. However, it is not a problem to straighten them over the knee, with a vise, or hammer and anvil.
